Steven Masley, MD, is a physician, nutritionist, author, speaker and award-winning patient educator. He is a Fellow of the American Heart Association, American College of Nutrition, and American Academy of Family Physicians. Dr. Masley is a clinical associate professor at the University of South Florida and teaches programs at Eckerd College. He sees patients from across North America at the Masley Optimal Health Center in St. Petersburg, FL, and has published numerous scientific articles, as well as several books: SMART FAT, The 30 Day Heart Tune-Up, and Ten Years Younger. He has devoted his medical career to the study of heart disease and aging, working to empower people to achieve optimal health through comprehensive medical assessments and lifestyle changes.

Joseph J. Lamb, MD, is a clinical consultant in Integrative and Functional Medicine. He also served as the past Director of Intramural Clinical Research at The Functional Medicine Research Center for Metagenics where he was the principal investigator for clinical trials. He works with patients to create optimal health by using functional medical approaches including lifestyle modification, herbal and nutritional therapies, and cognitive therapy. He’s also active in community service and frequently invited to lecture on integrative health topics ranging from pain management and healthy aging to women’s health and complementary cancer care.

Dana Laake and her special guest Jan M. Troup, Ph.D., will be discussing LPP, an advanced lipoprotein test for better cardiovascular risk assessment.

Jan M. Troup has over 30 years experience in the development of new analytical technology. He earned his Ph.D. in chemistry from Texas A&M University in 1974. In 2001 Dr. Troup started LipidLabs, Inc. and developed the Lipoprotein Particle Profile (LPP), the most advanced test for the separation of lipoproteins and measurement of lipoprotein particle numbers. LipidLabs was purchased by SpectraCell Laboratories in January 2006 and Dr. Troup is now the Director of Lipid Science at SpectraCell Laboratories.
