Rex Jones has been an educator with Garden of Life for more than 8 years and brings with him a lifelong passion for the natural foods industry and a strong knowledge of herbs. For more than 13 years he worked in a natural foods retail setting as a nutrition manager and herbalist. Rex also led classes, co-hosted a radio show, managed web content and gave a variety of in-store and off-site health lectures. He is excited to share the Garden of Life mission: Empowering Extraordinary Health®.

Special guest: Dr. Dale Bredesen

Dale Bredesen, MD, is internationally recognized as an expert in the mechanisms of neurodegenerative conditions such as Alzheimer’s disease. He graduated from Caltech, then earned his M.D. from Duke University Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina. He served as chief resident in neurology at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) before joining Nobel laureate Stanley Prusiner’s laboratory at UCSF as an NIH postdoctoral fellow. He has held faculty positions at UCSF, UCLA, and the University of California, San Diego. Dr. Bredesen directed the Program on Aging at the Burnham Institute before becoming the founding president and CEO of the Buck Institute in 1998. He is the chief medical officer of MPI Cognition. In the spring of 2017, he will star in a documentary which follows patients on his protocol.

Dr. Kevin Passero and his special guest Dr. Majid Fotuhi will discuss cutting-edge treatments for supporting brain health.

Dr. Majid Fotuhi, MD, PhD, is a neurologist who specializes in treating patients with memory loss, cognitive decline, and concussion. He has created an effective “brain fitness program” to help patients with these conditions rejuvenate their brains. Dr. Fotuhi has had 25 years of teaching, clinical work, and neuroscience research experience at Harvard and Johns Hopkins. He conducts clinical research, writes books, and gives public lectures about brain health, prevention of Alzheimer’s disease, and expanding brain capacity. Dr. Fotuhi received his MD cum laude from Harvard Medical School, and his PhD in Neuroscience from Johns Hopkins University. He is currently the chairman of Memosyn Neurology Institute, an affiliate staff at Johns Hopkins Howard County General Hospital, and a lecturer at Harvard Medical School.

Dr. Kevin Passero and his special guest Dr. Michael Lewis will be discussing the benefits of omega-3s for athletes – helping to prevent brain injury, and supporting recovery, if injured.

Dr. Michael Lewis is the President of the Brain Health Education and Research Institute, which he founded upon retiring from the US Army after a distinguished 31-year career. Dr. Lewis has years of experience developing programs for the military on the use of omega-3 fatty acids and traumatic brain injury and suicide prevention. His work has been featured on CNN’s Sanjay Gupta, MD show, numerous radio and television spots, and around the world at scientific and nutritional conferences, where his insights and pioneering work have impacted thousands of lives.
